"2008
has been quite a year . . . and? . . . and 2009 . . . ?"
With all that
has gone on over the last year and all the doom and gloom thrust
at us, apparently from almost everywhere we turn, many people feel
they have good enough an excuse to act fearfully, helplessly and
are worried or unhappy. Oh dear!
The saying
goes 'The better it gets, the better it gets; or the worse it gets,
the worse it gets". Yes, however how do we learn or show others
how to thrive at all times?
This evening let's look at how we can use NLP attitudes and techniques
to change this, for ourselves or others. |

"Talk
With the Animals"
- Meet Pamela Gawler-Wright and Dibley!
We were delighted to welcome Pamela Gawler-Wright
of Beeleaf Institute
for Contemporary Psychotherapy back to Colchester this month.
Since an Arctic expedition with sled dogs, Pamela has longed to
add a canine colleague to her Psychotherapy practice and has found
the ideal talent in Dibley.
Pam and Dibley will demonstrate the ultimate in cross-cultural modelling,
where two physiologically contrasting species learn about the difference
and sameness of the sensory world they inhabit.
Taking NLP principles of meaning-making to a deeper level, both animals
can establish a common language for mutual enrichment. Non-coercive
dog-and-human training will be enjoyed and an experience of Animal
Assisted Therapy demonstrated.
Participants can instinctively absorb these principles and practices
to enlighten and enhance their own skills for communicating, teaching,
learning, managing state and motivating self and others to meaningful
relationships and excellent achievements.

Topics for 2008 |

At
this session our topic we will be Basic and Advanced Anchoring
Excellent
communicators have usually developed a high degree of skill in the
effective use of anchors. Here's an opportunity to work on your own
skills.
To start,
we will look at how we set anchors in ourselves and others, using
all the representational systems. Through exercises and experience
try out what best helps you to change your state or maintain a state.
Later we'll work on how we anchor states in others.
While self-anchoring
and triggering anchors is in the main a conscious process, setting
anchors in others is unconscious and requires creating a trance state. |

Developing
the power of your Unconscious Mind .
. . Y
One
of the Presuppositions of NLP suggests is that all change is created
at an unconscious level.
NLP and
Hypnosis go hand-in-hand and both tap into the power of the unconscious
mind so understanding the trance state is an important element in
understanding the process of personal or behavioural change. This
evening we will look at the relationship between your unconscious
and conscious mind and how you can go inside and make changes.
As with
most of our meetings, this will be a combination of giving you information,
discussion and practical experience. |
| |
Using
NLP Presentation Skills
Most of us are required to make presentations of some sort
from time to time, if not regularly. This evening we will work on
applying NLP patterning to enhance our abilities to create a memorable
and positive learning experience for our audiences.
When making NLP Presentations we work to capture the whole of our
audience by using multi representational system language to capture
and anchor powerful learning states, communicating to both the conscious
and unconscious minds of our clients.
Imagine the effect you can have when doing this well.
Keeping
it at an easy level of detail, we ran through the 4 Mat system with
it's 4 learning styles and try out some practical applications using
the 'Why', 'What', 'How' and 'What If' frames in presenting, while
addressing your personal congruency as presenter.
|
| |
Motivation
This
evening we worked on the patterns we employ to create motivation
and those needed to maintain it in ourselves and in others.
This comes
under the NLP heading of Meta Programmes, the ingrained habitual
thinking patterns that we don't always know are there and could
be described as the default settings of our brain.
How do
you spur yourself into action?
How do you keep
yourself going through challenges and distractions?
How well
do you encourage others to do the same? |
| |
Creating
Inspired Relationships - How
to make your intimate relationship fire on all four cylinders
What
is it that allows some relationships to flourish, while others flounder?
How can you remove judgment from your relationship?
How can you deepen understanding of your partner, predict their
behaviour and influence them with elegance and grace?
While it may be true that opposites attract, unless you have practical
non-judgmental way of addressing differences, things can rapidly
get out of hand!
David Klaasen and his wife Pam gave another
fascinating session about the Language And Behavioural Profile
(LAB), this time focusing on relationships. It is said
that by using the language and behavioural profile you can learn
more about someone in 20 minutes than 20 years of marriage. While
David and Pam have only been married for 12 years, both of them
have learned how to use the language and behavioural profile to
transform their relationship .Tonight, they will be sharing some
of the insights they have gained from the LAB Profile. You will
get a chance to practice some of the key questions to ask that will
help you uncover and recognise the fundamental motivational patterns
that your partner is running. They will focus on some of the patterns
that can easily cause friction in a relationship if they are out
of sync. On this fun and highly interactive evening, we asked our
partners some interesting questions and gained new insights that
allowed an even more profound and deeper understanding of what really
motivates them.
|
| |
Catch
up and review session From
time to time, it is worth while taking time to stop and review the
NLP experiences and learnings that you have had recently. This evening
we did just that, revisiting further exercises on some of the topics
we've covered over the last 7 months. |
| |
Applying
Confidence Skills and Techniques
Confidence issues are among the favourites that I like
to work with in my 'day job' and is the topic for this session.
What would you do if you were totally confident about everything
you did?
How would it be if those whom you influence were totally confident
about everything they did?
What do you not do because you lack the confidence to act as you
want now?
How is it for you when those whom you influence do not act as you
know they could because they lack confidence to act now?
Many NLP techniques and skills are to do with changing state, -
i.e. changing from an unresourceful to a resourceful state - in
other words gaining the confidence to act, communicate or respond
appropriately and effectively. While we learn and see these techniques
being demonstrated in training rooms, how do we apply these lessons
to ourselves and to others outside the classroom? |
| |
'Get
good at saying No'
- Be
Assertive
Following
on from our previous successful session, this evening we will work
with that very important element of communication skill and confidence
- assertiveness.
Learn
to distinguish between assertive communication strategies and those
of aggression or passivity.
Let's
look at how we deal with personal boundaries, our own and others.
How do
you defend your personal boundaries against aggressive incursions?
How do
you respect the boundaries of others?
What changes
will you make to communicate more effectively what you really want
and mean?
Our approach,
as usual, will be to place emphasis on finding practical day-to-day
applications for the lessons we learn.
Before
you get too much better at saying 'No', do say 'Yes' this time and
join us! |
