We welcome
everyone with any level of experience, training or just interest in NLP,
from the vaguely curious to master practitioners and trainers. We all
have something to learn by exploring NLP related topics with like minded
people, be they practitioners, business trainers, coaches, teachers or
other people who may have heard a little about NLP and just want to learn
more.
Since we set up the group in 1996, we have met regularly in Colchester
and held practice and information workshops on a monthly or more frequent
basis. This probably makes us the longest continually running and independent
NLP Group in the UK. We are not aligned to or supported by specific NLP
training schools.
Our main aim is to provide a regular opportunity to review, develop and
practice NLP skills and understanding. The atmosphere is informal and
topics are pitched at a level that is understandable for all. Over the
years many newcomers have first 'cut their NLP teeth' with us. We like
to put emphasis on turning what we learn into practical use in our daily
personal or work lives. We also hold sessions of broader interest on related
topics.
Our group is one of a national network of NLP groups in the UK. For listings
and information on other groups see the Association of NLP ANLP
and British Board of NLP BBNLP
websites.
If
you are relatively new to NLP, click

Our
events are public workshops that often can help individuals on their journey
of personal development. However please note that some of us are professionally
qualified and insured to help individuals with personal issues and can
arrange more formal private therapy sessions, if needed.

We
meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month
(except for late July/August, Christmas and bank holidays)
at the Friends Meeting
House, 6 Church Street, Colchester CO1
1NF (Click for map)
The Meeting House is in the centre of Colchester, close to the Mercury
Theatre and the Jumbo Watertower. Best parking is in St Mary's Car Park
just over the footbridge on Balkerne Hill. (N.B. Beware of parking on
the double yellow lines around there; the traffic wardens are pretty strict,
whatever the time of day or night!)
Meeting
room doors will open by 7.15 p.m.
Join us for tea/coffee, biscuits, etc, and networking before we start
the main session at 7.30. We aim to end at around 9.30.
For the time
being, we will continue to ask for a contribution towards costs of £5.00
per evening. (Concessions are available, please just ask.)
If you are not on
our email list and would like regular reminders and updates, drop us an
email and we will
add your name.
You can also join
the group at MeetUp.com http://nlp.meetup.com/147
where you can view profiles of some those who may be attending or promote
yourself.
Please call me if you would like additional details: 01473 326980 or my

The
Art of Calibration ~ THE essential skill needed to apply ALL NLP
techniques or tools effectively.
Any
precision instrument or tool needs to be calibrated for it to be
accurate and fit for purpose. However expert a marksman you may
be, you're likely to miss the target every time if your rifle is
not calibrated. So it is with your ability and effectiveness to
communicate, create rapport, interact with or influence others,
but with one big difference: humans can measure with infinitely
more finesse and flexibility than any machine.
Learn
to recognise and read those unconscious, non-verbal responses. How
and what do we observe in others that can mean we 'read them like
a book' and often find that we know more about them in the first
few minutes of conversation than they know about themselves! |
| |
At
this session our topic we will be Basic and Advanced Anchoring
Excellent
communicators have usually developed a high degree of skill in the
effective use of anchors. Here's an opportunity to work on your own
skills.
To start,
we will look at how we set anchors in ourselves and others, using
all the representational systems. Through exercises and experience
try out what best helps you to change your state or maintain a state.
Later we'll work on how we anchor states in others.
While self-anchoring
and triggering anchors is in the main a conscious process, setting
anchors in others is unconscious and requires creating a trance state. |

Developing
the power of your Unconscious Mind .
. . Y
One
of the Presuppositions of NLP suggests is that all change is created
at an unconscious level.
NLP and
Hypnosis go hand-in-hand and both tap into the power of the unconscious
mind so understanding the trance state is an important element in
understanding the process of personal or behavioural change. This
evening we will look at the relationship between your unconscious
and conscious mind and how you can go inside and make changes.
As with
most of our meetings, this will be a combination of giving you information,
discussion and practical experience. |

Using
NLP Presentation Skills
Most of us are required to make presentations of some sort
from time to time, if not regularly. This evening we will work on
applying NLP patterning to enhance our abilities to create a memorable
and positive learning experience for our audiences.
When making NLP Presentations we work to capture the whole of our
audience by using multi representational system language to capture
and anchor powerful learning states, communicating to both the conscious
and unconscious minds of our clients.
Imagine the effect you can have when doing this well.
Keeping
it at an easy level of detail, we ran through the 4 Mat system with
it's 4 learning styles and try out some practical applications using
the 'Why', 'What', 'How' and 'What If' frames in presenting, while
addressing your personal congruency as presenter.

Motivation
This
evening we worked on the patterns we employ to create motivation
and those needed to maintain it in ourselves and in others.
This comes
under the NLP heading of Meta Programmes, the ingrained habitual
thinking patterns that we don't always know are there and could
be described as the default settings of our brain.
How do
you spur yourself into action?
How do you keep
yourself going through challenges and distractions?
How well
do you encourage others to do the same? |

Creating
Inspired Relationships - How
to make your intimate relationship fire on all four cylinders
What
is it that allows some relationships to flourish, while others flounder?
How can you remove judgement from your relationship?
How can you deepen understanding of your partner, predict their
behaviour and influence them with elegance and grace?
While it may be true that opposites attract, unless you have practical
non-judgmental way of addressing differences, things can rapidly
get out of hand!David
Klaasen and his wife Pam gave another
fascinating session about the Language And Behavioural Profile
(LAB), this time focusing on relationships. It is said
that by using the language and behavioural profile you can learn
more about someone in 20 minutes than 20 years of marriage. While
David and Pam have only been married for 12 years, both of them
have learned how to use the language and behavioural profile to
transform their relationship.Tonight,
they will be sharing some of the insights they have gained from
the LAB Profile. You will get a chance to practice some of the key
questions to ask that will help you uncover and recognise the fundamental
motivational patterns that your partner is running. They will focus
on some of the patterns that can easily cause friction in a relationship
if they are out of sync. On
this fun and highly interactive evening, we asked our partners some
interesting questions and gained new insights that allowed an even
more profound and deeper understanding of what really motivates
them.

CATCH
UP & REVIEW Session
From time to time, it
is worth while taking time to stop and review the NLP experiences
and learnings that you have had recently. This evening we will do
just that!
There we will revisit,
discuss and do further or advanced exercises on some of the topics
we've covered over the last 7 months and reflect on what changes
in skill or attitude we have incorporated.
